Job Security is Becoming Obsolete

What is job security and is it Becoming Obsolete?

“Job security is defined as the ‘probability’ that an individual will keep their job; a job with a high level of job security is such that a person with the job would have a ‘small’ chance of becoming unemployed .” ~ Wikipedia.

Does a Professional Career Guarantee You Security?

In a survey just released on August 21, 2018, on Canada’s economic stability, job security just isn’t there. No longer does higher education and professional career guarantee that you will have security.

Many professional jobs are contract-based and most likely benefits aren’t included, such as pension plans or even sick pay.

The term applied to these jobs is ‘precarious’ meaning: uncertain, insecure, unpredictable, risky, unstable, unsteady and applies both to the low wage earner and the high wage earner. Doesn’t sound promising, does it?

Impact of Increased Minimum Wage in Ontario

On November 22, 2017, the Fair Workplaces, Better Jobs Act was passed by the Ontario government which made significant changes including raising the minimum wage from $11.60/hr to $14/hour on January 1, 2018, and $15/hour on January 1, 2019.

Ontario’s new Minister of Labour is ‘now considering the recent changes made and the impact (the ripple effect) they will have on the overall economy” such as a reduction in hiring, cutting employee work hours, reducing benefits and charging higher prices. Newly appointed Premier, Doug Ford, is saying his government “will freeze the minimum wage at $14/hr.”

On OCTOBER 23/2018, true to his word, Doug Ford’s government introduced Bill 47, the Making Ontario Open for Business Act, 2018 freezing minimum wage at $14/hr capping it off until 2020 as part of a rollback of labour reforms introduced by the previous government.

Is Higher Education Still Important?

Higher Education

Bill Gates, a college dropout himself, says “Over 44 million Americans collectively hold more than $1.4 trillion in student loan debt and only 54.8 percent of students graduate in six years. This means that millions of Americans are taking on thousands of dollars in debt without a diploma to show for it.” He goes on to say that although the U.S. is number one in terms of people who start college, they also have the highest dropout.

In Canada, the total average annual cost of post-secondary education is $19,498.75 which includes rent, tuition, groceries, food on campus, travelling home, books, alcohol, transportation to school and extracurricular activities. For those who can stay at home, the cost is about $9300/year. In the U.S., costs average between $25,620 and $58,464 annually.

If the student drops out, that’s a whole lot of money down the drain!

Graduates are finding out that post-secondary education, besides being expensive and time-consuming, is no longer a guarantee of job security. What good is a degree and initials after your name if you can’t be guaranteed of earning a living?

Alarming # of Canadians & Americans Leaving their Jobs

An alarming number of Americans are leaving their jobs every month. According to Labor Department data, 3.56 million left their jobs in May, hoping to find better employment.

In Canada, 1 in 4 people leave a job due to stress. Other factors include: overwork, lack of appreciation, poor relationships with management, poor wages, lack of recognition for a job well done, and skills not utilized.

Stressed Out

What alternative is there to working for someone else, in a job that stresses you out and where you don’t feel appreciated? Many are turning to home-based and online businesses.

Home Based-Businesses Still on the Rise

There are 38 million home-based businesses in the U.S.!

In Canada, the number of self-employed workers continues to increase and in 2011, it was 2.7 million people.

According to an article in the Toronto Observer, in 2012 there were more than 821,000 women entrepreneurs in Canada with half working from a home-based business.

Power of the Internet

In 2017, an estimated 1.66 billion people, worldwide, purchased goods online and global e-retail sales skyrocketed to 2.3 trillion U.S. dollars. Projected growth for 2021 is 4.48 trillion U.S. dollars.

This is great news but what does this mean for you?

Online Affiliate Marketing May be the Answer!

Online Marketing

You no doubt have heard a lot about get-rich-quick online scams; you may have even been a victim of one. I have checked out many over the years and almost got scammed myself so I understand if you are skeptical. I was too!

I was promised a lot, providing I was willing to pay out the big bucks at the beginning, which was thousands of dollars, which frankly I didn’t have!

Before I go into detail about the company I am now affiliated with and have complete trust in, let me just touch on a few highlights.

You Won’t:

  • Get rich overnight or even quickly.

  • Have success without putting some honest effort into growing your business – online marketing IS a business!

  • Always have successes – failure is a part of any new business.

  • Always have the support of family and friends – sometimes you will just have to go it alone.

  • Work nine to five or set hours – sometimes you will work long into the night or get up extra early in the morning (especially if you are also working a full-time job).

You Will:

  • Create a website(s) to promote your passion(s).

  • Learn how to choose reputable affiliate merchants who deliver on their commissions.

  • You will belong to a community of other affiliates who can answer your questions.

  • Not have to pay a huge fee up-front to get started; in fact, you may not have to pay any money at all (more on this below).

  • Be able to work on your online business when you want to. You get to choose the hours and the amount of time you want to invest.

  • Be able to do this from the comfort of your own home and be your own boss; you can make this your full-time job if that’s what you want.

  • Be provided with ALL the tools you need to grow your business.

Now For the Good Part

What if I told you that you could start your online business for FREE and won’t be asked for your credit card information and that you will get tremendous support from day one?

My discovering Wealthy Affiliate was purely by accident. I was considering laying out almost $4,000 U.S. for an affiliate marketing program when I decided to do one more google search. In doing so, I discovered some not so good things about this company; I did, however, find amazing testimonials about Wealthy Affiliate. After completing just 4 free lessons, I jumped into Premium because I knew I finally found something good. I have never looked back. So far, this company delivers what it promises.

Without spending a dime, your FREE membership will provide you with the following:

  • 1 website;

  • A 10-lesson beginner training course;

  • Phase 1 of Bootcamp training;

  • A keyword search tool;

  • Training videos, and more!

Should you decide to go premium, you pay $49/month but if you pay this yearly, you save a substantial amount of money BUT there is never ever any pressure to go premium. Remember, they won’t have your credit card information so they can’t charge you unless you ask for it. Chances are, though, you will, in a very short time!

You don’t need a college diploma or university degree to make money online and make your dreams a reality, but you will need determination, dedication, perseverance and the willingness to work. Don’t let your job become obsolete!

If you have been waiting for the perfect opportunity, now’s the time!

If you are worried Job Security is Becoming Obsolete maybe it is time to look in another direction.

But don’t take my word for it; check it out yourself.

    So true that the job market is changing. I’ve found most of them are not good for workers, at least for the US version of this issue.
    I’ve been reading about how the world’s CEOs and politicians have sociopathic personalities and corporations have no morality by nature. So, what are we to do? Make a race to the bottom? I agree with you that we need to look for a better way. Online business is a great way and affiliate marketing can be fairly fast to get into the paying side. Thanks so much for your encouragement.

      Yes, it is disheartening the way our politicians and CEO’s are. I feel sorry for the up and coming graduates who are doing the ‘right’ thing, going to University and College, but with no guarantee all their hard work will pay off. But not only just them. There are many people who lose their jobs because of downsizing and automation. Where do they go next? I agree that an online business, especially in today’s world, is a great way to go. Thanks for your great comments!
